PSP PlayStation Store closes in Europe and Asia on Monday

The PSP will lose access to the PlayStation Store on September 15 in Europe and Asia.
Owners of Sony's first dedicated handheld games console in those regions - as well as in Oceana and some parts of Africa - will no longer be able to access the PlayStation Store directly through the console starting from that date, Sony has confirmed to IGN.
Users will, however, still be able to purchase digital content for the handheld via the Sony Entertainment Network Online Store, accessible via any computer, and will still be able to re-download past purchases via the downloads list directly on the PSP menu, says the site.
While there's no word on when US PSP owners will lose PS Store access, service in the Americas is expected to continue as normal as Sony "evaluates market trends".
This continues the gradual but inevitable demise of the first Sony portable, which made its debut in Japan way back in December 2014.
Sony will likely be looking to phase out the near decade-old PSP as it shifts its focus completely over to its successor, the PS Vita, which was released in Japan in December 2011 and US and EU in February 2012.
Sony ceased worldwide shipments of PSP to major markets earlier this year, although the system is expected to remain available in emerging markets for some time. Worldwide PSP sales have exceeded 80 million units to date.
