Rise of the Tomb Raider is CVG readers' game of E3

FIRST PLACE

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Developer: Crystal Dynamics
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Rise of the Tomb Raider reveal trailer
It's no secret that the first Tomb Raider is a favourite amongst team CVG, and based on the number of votes it received in our poll, its sequel, revealed during Microsoft's E3 2014 press conference as Rise of the Tomb Raider, we're not the only ones excited for the sequel.
Though details on the game are still very sparse, the allusions to Lara Croft being driven to a state of mentally instability based on the traumatic events she endured on Yamatai Island is a hook we're very much looking forward to seeing play out.

SECOND PLACE

Batman: Arkham Knight

Developer: Rocksteady Games
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Batman: Arkham Knight first gameplay trailer
E3 finally gave us some Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay we could really sink our teeth into and it looks like it hasn't disappointed. For a while there was a worry that perhaps the highly-anticipated third entry in Rocksteady's series would be more-of-the-same except with a Batmobile.
While the trailer didn't quite show enough to completely assuage those feelings, it was a strong reminder that when it comes to open-worlds, very few games offer the level of detail and atmosphere as Rocksteady's games. The next-gen Gotham we were shown in the gameplay video was almost overwhelming, and let's be honest, the Batmobile looks pretty damn cool too.

THIRD PLACE

The Division

Developer: Ubisoft Massive, Ubisoft Reflections, Ubisoft Red Storm
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
The Division gameplay trailer
This E3, Ubisoft once again proved that it is the masters of selling a vision through a trailer.
During its own press conference it showed off a footage of a small co-op team exploring the abandoned remains of the New York City subway system. Once the four players reach the derelict city streets, they engage in a heated battle with NPC occupiers.
The friendly chatter between the players and the moment-to-moment trading of lead over the expansive map certainly got us exacted for the co-op joys the shooter could potentially provide. Evidently, readers are pretty stoked about it too.
