Square Enix has filed for trademarks on Final Fantasy Explorers in the US and European Union, according to their respective offices.
That means the 3DS action RPG, which was first revealed in Japanese magazine Jump last week, is likely also planned for release overseas.
The game will let parties of up to four players team up to explore the world in search of crystals and battle enemy Summons.
Players can choose from multiple classic Final Fantasy jobs as they progress through the game, including the Black Mage, White Mage, Knight, and Monk. It's being developed internally at Square Enix.
The applications spotted byNintendo Everything were filed on June 16 in the US and June 17 in the EU. They apply to "computer game software; video game software" and a swathe of related promotional goods.
We've asked Square Enix for comment on the trademark applications and will update this story with any response.
Square Enix confirmed last week that Final Fantasy Type-0 will get a Western release via a remastered PS4 and Xbox One version.
