Ubisoft announced today that Watch Dogs is the fastest-selling game in its history, selling more copies in the first 24 hours than any other title from the company.
“I once said that the buzz around Watch Dogs was driven by the incredible passion of our early fans,” said creative director Jonathan Morin on the UbiBlog. “Today we broke the record for the biggest first-day sales in Ubisoft history."
Earlier this month, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed during a financial call that the company hopes to sell over 6 million copies of Watch Dogs. That sales goal was created based on shipment numbers for the original Assassin's Creed.
Watch Dogs released yesterday for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The open-world game from Ubisoft Montreal is also scheduled to come to Wii U later this year, with the company concentrating on Nintendo's version of Watch Dogs now.
